Everyone has been talking about them and I'm no different...BB creams are here!
I was the first person to shun the hype placed around these glorified tinted moisturisers..."just another way of making money."
Then I brought two and in the words of Usher (no, I don't got it bad!) I got caught up!
GOSH BB Cream in 05 Espresso (rrp £9.99 Superdrugs) and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Dark (rrp £7.99 Boots)
Calling these two products BB creams is a bit of a push...at no point on the tubes does it state what BB stands for, (side eye) I assume that drugstore companies are just taking BB and sticking it on their products.
I would say they favour tinted lotions as they are very lightweight.
I would say they favour tinted lotions as they are very lightweight.
Both products can be used in a manner of ways...GOSH's BB Cream, (which comes in 5 shades with 05 Espresso being the darkest,) states that it can be used as the following:
Primer
Foundation
Foundation
Moisturiser
Whilst Maybelline states that their BB cream can do everything bar turn you into a supermodel. The claims include:
Blurring imperfections
Feeling Fresh
Creating Natural Glow
Non Greasy and Oil Free
Despite my scepticism I have been pleasantly surprised by both creams, as much as I hate to admit it both gave me a fresh faced look, they are both very light on the skin yet do enough to give that natural look that I love.
I prime before I apply these creams as I have oily skin, I find that this helps A LOT with the staying power of these creams as well as reducing the afternoon oil slick (my oily girls know what I'm talkin' bout!)
I favour GOSH over Maybelline as it has a better tint to it, Espresso is slightly reddish but within the summer months (with a slight tan) I do not think this is too much of a problem I believe it would be perfect for NW45 ladies.
Maybelline is way too light so I find I have to set it with my MSF Deep Dark, once I have done that, the fit is near perfect.
I would definitely recommend both of these products, they are very inexpensive, long lasting and as much as I'd hate to admit it they do hold their own on most of their claims. A great product to use daily if you find foundation a bit too heavy.
I am definitely a fan of BB creams!
Have you tried any? What do you think about the hype?
Let me know!

I just can't get my head around BB creams they just don't seem to work for me giving minimum coverage and then wearing off after only a short time which is a pain! but I def see why they work for some people!

Yeah I don't think everyone will be a fan of these, I think the problem is they claim to do a thousand and one things, unfortunately full coverage isn't one of the properties BB creams can or should claim, but I find primer really helps with longevity! x
DeleteI haven;t actually tried the BB creams yet because let's face it, the options for darker skin girls really isn't the greatest but with Sleek and gosh both coming out with BB creams in Dark shades I am all for trying this out

Yeah the colour selection for darker skinned girls suck but I am looking forward to trying Sleeks and will test out mixing ny foundation with other BBs to see if it will work!
DeleteI want the gosh one now!
ReplyDeleteIt's good, has a bit of a reddish tint to it but very lightweight, more like a tinted lotion but a good one! :) x

I've heard about the Korean BB creams but wasn't too sure that the shade range would suit darker skin tones, however, I have read that some people add their own foundation to it so will order some samples and try that out! Thanks for the info! x
DeleteLately I am obsessed with BB creams. I am using Garnier's one and it's great!
