A few weeks back
I was given the opportunity by the lovelies at Beauty Crowd (thanks guys!) to
attend my first ever make-up course.
The course was
run by The House of Glamdolls which was set up by David Horne and Chinyee Chu.
I decided to do
my research before I arrived and found out that David created the legendary
Illamasqua Skin Base and Hydra/Matte Veils – this, in itself, had me excited!
Chinyee had worked at MAC and Illasmaqua so I knew I was in good hands!
This being my
first make-up course I was a little bit nervous but shouldn’t have been. The
House of Glamdolls offers a really friendly and comfortable experience from the
amazing interior (homely meets eclectic meets make-up) to the personal approach
throughout the course.
David and Chinyee took the time to really talk to us and
discuss with us as well as demonstrate and teach – all in a really comfortable
way which I enjoyed.
During the class
we recreated a Foxy Vamp look using products from Freedom Makeup which is a
make-up line run under the same company as Makeup Revolution which is aimed
mostly at pro MUAs.
I was surprisingly
impressed by the quality of the Freedom Makeup products. The Pro Conceal Palettes and the ultra-affordable Decadence Rock & Roll eyeshadow palette
were my favourite products on the day – both had amazing colour payoff and were
great in texture.
I also loved the
Glamdolls Glam Base Wheel 2 (also created by David) which I have now added to
my make-up wishlist!
At the course I
had the opportunity to meet and speak with Adam Minto the creator of Makeup
Revolution/Freedom Makeup. It was great to speak to the man himself but I did
have to stress the importance of expanding the shade range of the base products
for PoC. I had to use Skin Base as my foundation as the Freedom Makeup bases
did not cover deeper skin tones which I have to admit was a bit disappointing
but not surprising.
All in all I had
an amazing day and learnt a lot!
I felt very privileged to able able to meet
David and Chinyee and to be taught by David.
If you wish to
book a course at The House of Glamdolls whether you’re a beginner or pro you
can do so via their website HERE.
Many thanks to all at Beauty Crowd for this opportunity!

Although not asked to review the course, my voluntary review above holds nothing but my true and honest opinion.
