The foundation struggle is oh so real for black women.

With more and more brands ignoring our need for a decent shade range, many of us have had to turn to slightly higher end foundations to fulfil our needs, and even then, brands are still taking the piss, ahem YSL.

Nevertheless, we as black women, look for we can find and utilise that, thankfully some brands are better than others and today I’m sharing my top 3 higher end foundations with you guys!

For reference, my foundation shades can be found HERE.

Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation – Shade 11 – £36.00

If you’re looking for flawless, lightweight, medium to full coverage this is the foundation for you! GA’s latest offering gives you a natural full coverage look without cakiness. The liquid to powder formula is great for those of us with oily skin but if you have dry skin you may want to look at their luminous foundation. What I particularly love about this foundation is the shade, I’ve moved from golden undertones to neutral undertones and shade 11 has the right neutral undertones for me, it literally melts into my skin and makes it look perfect! Every time I wear this I’m shocked at how good my skin looks.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh – 6W1 Sandalwood – £32.50

If the original Double Wear foundation was too cakey for you, you might want to look into the new Double Wear Nude Water Fresh. This sheer – medium coverage foundation is lightweight and skin like, allowing your skin to breathe throughout the day. A perfect candidate for your everyday foundation. As this is light to medium coverage, it wont give you a flawless finish but it will look great and feel like there’s nothing there. If you found Sandalwood oxidised red with the original Double Wear foundation, fear not with Fresh Water Nude, this seems to have been sorted. I’m a big fan of this foundation and as with it’s previous release, you can bank on it lasting for a majority of the day.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear – 11 Muscade – £31.50*

I’m yet to hear someone say anything bad about this foundation. Lancome’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear is another great go-to foundation, perfect for everyday wear (if you need a lil more coverage) or for nights out. Teint Idole gives a demi-matte, medium coverage, slightly luminous finish so suitable for both oily and dry skin depending on how you apply your makeup.  This is another foundation that feels weightless, there have actually been times when I’ve forgotten that I’m wearing it! My only issue with this is my shade, Muscade runs a lil red for me but once pair with concealer and all that jazz, it’s not evident and with a wide shade range, you cannot go wrong here!
