BECCA COSMETICS // ULTIMATE COMPLEXION COVERAGE CREME

This is probably one the most exciting things I’ve ever had to deal with but when BECCA Cosmetics reached out to me to send me some products of course I had to say yes!

Around a 4/5 days later a package arrived for me and I swear I was CRAZY happy! BECCA Cosmetics had kindly sent me a box full of complexion goodies!

Now, let me just say I was not asked to do this review and I did receive these items as a gift but I had to share them with you because SHADE RANGE!

Let’s start with the new Liquid Velvet Blurring Primer – £32.00. I was eager to give it a go to see if it really did make a difference to my skin.

The Liquid Velvet Blurring Primer can be worn alone or under foundation to smooth your complexion, meaning getting rid of pores, fine lines and imperfections.

One thing that really surprised me about this primer was the consistency and overall appearance of it, for some reason I was not expecting it to be so liquid-y which is silly because, the name Natalie, d’uh! This primer pumps out like a liquid, a peach coloured lightweight liquid but dries to a powder consistency when rubbed into the skin, this helps to slightly mattify your face. I felt no stickiness whilst applying this primer but when I changed my moisturiser I found that when rubbed into the skin a little bit too long, the primer can produce a white residue on the skin which can be difficult to remove.

I also didn’t see any noticeable changes to my skin when applying this, my skin didn’t look smoother and it didn’t get rid of my pores which was a shame as this is what the primer claims it can do, the only difference was that my skin was a little less oily.

Onto the foundation, I was sent 5 of the deepest shades of the Ultimate Complexion Coverage Creme – £34.00 which I was super excited about! It’s always fantastic to see brands who include people of colour in their foundation shade offerings.

The shades I received (as swatched above) were:

  • Sienna
  • Espresso (formerly Mink)
  • Sandalwood
  • Mahogany
  • Cacao

Out of the 5 shades I was sent Sienna was the one that I used, this was still a little bit too deep for me, so I’d imagine I may be Maple if I went to colour match myself in store.

My swatch looks a little misleading (I had to move from my normal swatching area) but Sandalwood, Mahogany and Cacao are actually very rich deep shades and more on the red/neutral undertone side of things. Cacao is especially rich and deep and pigmented, in real life it looks perfect for deeper complexions.

The Ultimate Complexion Coverage Creme’s are aimed to be the perfect foundation for maximum, longwear coverage with a lightweight feel, so no cakiness.

What I noticed right off the bat with this foundation is, it is PIGMENTED! My swatches above were made with one pump and even that was too much, however, this is exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to full coverage foundations. I applied with my Beauty Blender to help make sure I didn’t experience any cakiness which I did not. I should mention, it was recommended that I should use The One Perfecting Brush to apply the foundation to my skin but it looked soooo clean I didn’t want to use it! Terrible I know.

The foundation blended in without any hassle and what really surprised me was how lightweight it was, even when it dried down to a matte finish, it felt like I wasn’t wearing a full coverage foundation, it’s incredible.

The wear time of the UCCC is pretty impressive too, paired with the Blurring Primer I found that I only had to apply my mattifying powder once, after a day of rushing from one end of London to another, even when I went to do a mirror check, my skin still looked flawless! After an 8 hour work day I didn’t want to take my makeup off as my foundation still looked amazing which is very rare for me!

If you are looking for a foundation that gives you effortless, flawless skin, whilst being full coverage (no colour correcting) then this is the foundation for you! It makes a full coverage face incredibly easy if you have any scars or blemishes you wish to cover and it doesn’t feel cakey, it also lasts very well throughout the day when teamed with the Blurring Primer.

Do I recommend this? If you love a full coverage finish, yes I do!

I am a really big fan of this and I can honestly say it is slowly becoming my favourite full coverage foundation! The fact that this foundation can make me look flawless without looking cakey or feeling makeup on my face is a big thing!

BECCA did great with this!

Wow, this looks amazing on you! I was looking at reviews for Fenty Beauty and came across your blog again – Fenty foundation looks lovely but, this also looks great too! Definitely something to consider – great review! 🙂

Thanks Alison!! This is a really good foundation, fantastic if you need full coverage without the heaviness of a full coverage foundation! :)x
