I’ve been super lazy when it comes to makeup shopping and to be honest I have not been interested in the sheer volume of new makeup being released near every day, I mean, it’s just getting ridiculous now, but when an email about the Nudestix plush paints landed in my inbox, I had that giddy excitement that I used to get when I read about new makeup!

The new Nudestix Magnetic Lip Plush Paints – £24* have been released in 7 shades with around 2/3 shades being suitable for all over use for black skin. I would like to add that whilst I believe all 7 shades can be used as lip products for black skin from swatches that I have seen, they may not work as well as on the cheeks or eye lids.

The Magnetic Lip Plush Paints are described as a “multi-tasking lip, cheek and eye colour collection” which means they can be used either as a lip colour, eye shadow or blush. The concept took inspiration from the incredible K beauty trend of natural, blendable accents of colour, nothing too overpowering but something to bring some colour to the skin, so if you love your colours to stand out this may not be for you.

If you love the natural, bitten lip, flushed cheeks look – this product is what you’ve been looking for!

I was sent the two most vibrant shades from the collection:

  • Sweet Sangria – A bright and vibrant berry
  • Fresh Fiji – A bright and vibrant orange

I was happy that I was sent these two as I felt that the majority of the shades (bar Hot Papika) would not work as well on my cheeks or eyes but I do feel they would be fantastic for nude lipstick options for black/brown skin.

Upon first look, I was a bit underwhelmed, I have to admit. The sheer brightness of the shades made me think that the colours were formulated wrong and would end up looking ashy on my cheeks but OH how wrong was I!

When I swatched them and blended them out I could instantly tell that these babies were formulated perfectly! These weightless paints apply like a mousse with a flat wand applicator and blend out like an absolute dreaaaaam without losing that colour pigment, but what really impressed me was how warm the shades actually were, meaning there was no ashiness in sight!

The matte velvet finish also meant that the product melted into my makeup, giving me the most natural flush of colour! Now, this may not seem like a big deal to some but when you’ve been chasing how to pull off the natural flush of colour look for so long, this is literally a God-send!

I applied Fresh Fiji to my eyes with my finger with minimal effort and it blended out so easily!

When it came to my cheeks, I learnt that it is best to apply the plush paints before any powders. You can, of course, apply on top of powders but I found that the paints leave a little mark where the wand touches the skin as they are sort of wet, when compared to powder. This isn’t a dealbreaker as once blended out well with a fluffy brush you cannot see it at all.

Another thing that struck me about the plush paints was the colour pay off. FANTASTIC! For a natural flushed look, I only needed to apply 3 small swipes per cheek for Sweet Sangria and Fresh Fiji to act as a perfect blush.

In terms of longevity, these blush paints last long. I’ve been testing them out for the past 2 weeks and I can easily get a full days work wear (8 hours) out of them without fading or separation.

The only thing I cannot comment on for now is lip wear. I’m more of a nude or bold colour sort of gal so these shades wouldn’t be my cup of tea for lip shades but if you love oranges or berries, I would recommend giving them a try! If they perform anything like they do on cheeks and eyes, you’re winning!

I’m such a big fan of these paints because I feel like NUDESTIX ticked all the boxes when it comes to the formulation: great shades, comfortable, weightless, blendable and multi-faceted.

The Plush Paints are also ideal for makeup on the go and definitely help to save space in your makeup bag. If you’re a commuter who applies makeup on the train/bus (I’m still debating on whether you guys are highly skilled or crazy) you should definitely check this out too. No brushes needed and it blends with a fingertip or brush.

All in all I’m super excited about these and I think you will be too!

Hi love! No, as far as I know, when I used this there was no plumping effect. The magnetic part of the name relates to it’s staying power, at least that what I figured. Hope this helped!
